The thought of a supercomputer gives us an impression of a big machine filling large rooms, costing millions of pounds, worked on by several people. Tesla Supercomputer is nothing like that. Being the world’s first personal supercomputer unveiled, it looks like our own PC but is about 250 times faster.
The gadget expected to modernize the working speed of doctors and scientists makes use of graphics processing units. It will allow the doctors to process the results of brain and body scans thereby giving quick diagnosis of tumors that would otherwise take days. It will also help them in finding cure for cancer and malaria, all because of its potential to run hundreds of stimulations within a short time. The use of this technology on a home computer could give it lightening speeds.
Initially on sale to the universities and to the scientific and research communities, PC maker Dell would soon release them into domestic market. Though highly priced costing between £4,000 and £8,000, I think that these supercomputers are worth the cash!
