As U.S President Barack Obama convenes with his cabinet and his senior military commanders to revise the the U.S policy in Afghanistan, the country witnessed another spate of deadly insurgent attacks that carried a ripple of terror across Afghanistan.
Separate bombings and shooting attacks throughout Afghanistan, killed 12 people that included four U.S soldiers and three children. U.S President Barack Obama has been under intense political pressure at home also from the North Atlantic Treat Organization (NATO) to send in thousands of more U.S forces into the region to battle the now revitalized insurgency.
In separate attacks on the U.S and NATO forces across Afghanistan on Sunday, two U.S soldiers were killed in a bombing attack and one lost his life in a firefight with the insurgents in Southern Afghanistan. The recent attacks have brought the death toll for the U.S forces to 15 for the month of November. Last month was recorded as the deadliest for the U.S troops as in just 30 days, 59 U.S soldiers lost their lives, the highest amount of casualties, the United States has faced, since the beginning of the War on Terror campaign in the year 2003.
As of now, NATO has about 71,000 troops in the region, out which nearly half of force amounts for U.S forces. Apart from its contribution to the NATO contingent, America has also stationed 36,000 troops in Afghanistan, that are part of the regular army units and have no affiliation to NATO.
