Old is gold, and it surely awes the world! That is exactly what the 1972 Datsun has done. Tailored to be cent percent electric, the legendary White Zombie now holds a world record for being the world’s fastest emission free car.
This small, boxy and entirely street legal car is owned by John Wayland, who enters it into regular drag racing competitions and the car never lets him down. It thrashes non-electric Ferraris, Corvettes, and BMWs effortlessly to emerge as a winner and takes hold of an array of world records. Now, this little car has another record to its credit- it can reach speeds of 114 miles per hour and cover a quarter mile in 11.46 seconds..
Depending on the race, Wayland alternates his electric engine with lead and lithium ion batteries and plugs in right at the raceway for 12-20 minutes before he’s due at the starting line. He also deserves appreciation for his car’s victories because without him, the car wouldn’t even exist. So, let’s hope racing goes green in the future and all of us would then enjoy an eco-friendly racing competition.
