The prototype of a table may be that of a wooden slab sitting upon four legs in the minds of most people. Luckily for those who enjoy a better sense of style, this isn’t so in the minds of creative designers. British designer John Grabham’s 1Formtable satiates the desire people have for an elegant but simplistic table.

The 1Formtable was originally designed to be constructed out of steel. However, the difficulties in having a table, even one this good looking, in such a heavy material made Grabham reconsider. The change was eventually made into a material called Corian. Certainly more lightweight than steel, the Corian made 1Formtable would be more portable. The 1Formtable appears as a wave that was successfully froze and tweaked slightly to make an even surface.

The waves of the table can be used to stack books and magazines, perhaps even toys for the family oriented. The last wave features 18 slots for showing off your favourite CD collection. Grabham has alreday presented the design to DuPont which means the 1Formtable may be manufactured by the company some time soon.
