We don’t really know how they work but we are satisfied to put our trust in them, leaving ourselves to the mercy of those few who actually do understand how to work these hazardous machines: ATMs.

Those who are paranoid enough not to trust ATMs to safely protect their money would perhaps be pleased to know of these recent ATM robberies. The heist was uncovered by Fox 5 NY; an unknown hacker working alone or in cohorts with other hackers hacked into the computer system of RBS Worldplay last November and managed to gain enough information to make themselves millionaires. Armed with information that would help them make fake copies of payroll debit cards, the hackers wiped $9 million from 100 different accounts. Apparently, the hackers managed to do so by lifting the withdrawal limits on the accounts, allowing them to withdraw over the limit.

What is most shocking about these robberies is the fact that money was taken out of 130 ATM machines in 49 cities worldwide and within the short span of 30 minutes. The precision with which the robberies have been done clearly signify the intelligent and talented minds behind it.
