If it were an African dish, it would not have surprised one much, but this is something that came out of the mouth of the famous celebrity chef, Beppe Bigazzi!
This Italian food writer said that he always had that dish when he was young, back in Valdarno, Tuscany! He also referred the dish as a ’succulent dish’, which definitely left a very bad taste on all its viewers! The viewers and the animal rights groups got so offended that they sent myriads of complaints.
In the video (to see the video click here) not only the viewers of the show ‘Ready Steady Cook’ looked offended, but the show host, Elisa Isoardi (who has a pet cat named Othello) looked so surprised that she couldn’t digest the fact that the old man could say such gross things. Later on he even added “Mind you, I wasn’t joking all that much. In the 1930s and 1940s, when I was a boy, people certainly did eat cat.”
The 77 year old chef did not see anything wrong in it and refused to apologize and continued with his distasteful recipe! RAI, the broadcasting network said that they have dropped the veteran chef temporarily, for their own good!
