A school for young LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) will be created from March 2010 in Campinas (93 km de SP and the second biggest metro area in this state), through an agreement with the Sao Paulo State.
The space will promote technical courses for young people between 12 and 18 who seek classes of artistic expression, graphics and scenic aimed at this audience. The project is part of the Culture Points program, launched by the Ministry of Culture and will be sponsored, as well as 300 other cultural initiatives in the state, with USD 180 thousand for three years.
The creator of the project is the coordinator of Group E-Young, Deco Ribeiro, 37, who since 2001 fighting for the rights of youth LGBT. “The school will be open to heterosexuals as well. I think important to have this space, because the LGBT student grows insecure about sexuality, and traditional school ignores it.”
Ribeiro says that the project will be a point of “cultural learning” and that students will not have to ask for parental permission to participate.
