Madonna faces a new hurdle in her desperate attempts to adopt a Malawian girl. A Malawian court had earlier rejected her adoption request on the grounds of residency. Now that Madonna is taking up case in Supreme court tomorrow the girl’s biological father has surfaced and is vowing to fight for her custody.

Celebrity adoption case never had such complications before. The future of Chifundo ‘Mercy’ James, the four year old Malawian girl thus becomes more uncertain. Chifundo was abandoned after her mother’s death and has been in orphanage since birth. James Kambewa has never met his daughter before but yet has told international media that he has seen the pictures in media and wants to issue an injunction and make sure the little one is raised in Malawi.

Madonna had faced legal residency issues in 2006 as well when she adopted four year old David Banda but court had waived the restrictions then. With this new paternity twist in the tale this time Madonna may find it difficult to take little girl back home. The little Chifundo is meanwhile remains unaware of it all.
