Adam Lambert Comes Out In The Queer Year, Who’s Surprised?!

2009 is being called the Queer Year, and no wonder! When you think about the amount of queer news this year has seen (and we are only half-way through), it makes one wonder where all the straight people have gone!

As Brazil sends out rainbow colours to their pink brethren with the very biggest and the very best in gay prides, the rest of the world isn’t far behind. The last week of June is usually celebrated the world over as the Pink Week and the LGBT community is busy getting ready to come out in flocks. For those who are hiding in the closet, this seems the right time to come out. Then again, it appears to be the right time even for those who have been shyly waving their hands from the closet, going by what Adam Lambert had to say to Rolling Stone.

Adam Lambert may not have won the American Idol contest (he came in second) but he certainly got himself a huge fan following. His extra tight tapering jeans, nail polish and extravagant amount of kohl was also enough for anyone with half a brain to make a guess about his sexual orientation. In fact, Adam was sure it would not come as a surprise to anyone, even though he never explicitly introduced himself as gay (and why must he, which straight person does that, either?)

Adam also revealed he had hoped to come out to the world in an interview with Rolling Stone, thinking it would be cooler, but also sobered to add that it had been his childish wish. He also spoke about his desire to work with Madonna and of his attempts at writing songs, most of which were inspired by Goldfrapp and Peaches. Adam’s amazing voice and charm would definitely take him far and the mature words he had to say about homophobes and hypocrites would shame those of us who fall in that sorry and pathetic category. Having faced sexual discrimination earlier in his career, Adam may have been hesitant but chose the braver option in being unpretentious and just being himself.

Check out Rolling Stone to see Lambert looking sizzling hot on the cover; plus, pics and videos for those who can’t get enough of this Rockstar!

  1. The sorry and pathetic group of homophobes seek the easy way out these days: Hypocrisy. Thus, they seem and appear tolerant but intolerance simmers within. The battle might just get harder with all the pretentious people!

You’re absolutely right about that. I think homophobes are just a notch better than people who pretend to be tolerant, at least they are honest about their hatred. Then again, I can’t understand all that hatred. How can one person’s sexual orientation affect another? It’s beyond me.
