Typhoon Parma ripped and battered parts of Philippines and caused severe damage to life and property. This is second storm to hit Philippines in last eight days. The first one which even hit the capital Manila killed more than 288 people and affected more than 3 million people. It is said to be worst storm in last four decades.

Typhoon Parma spared Capital Manila but it ripped through north-eastern tip of the main island of Luzon moving further towards Taiwan and devastated provinces of Cagayan and Isabela. Most communications lines and roads have been cut-off. Tens of thousands of people had already been evacuated but damage to property has been severe. The weather department has predicted strong winds, heavy rains, landslides and tidal waves.

Philippines has already declared nationwide state of calamity and emergency rescue operations are underway. Asia Pacific islands have been devastated by natural calamities this week. It was earthquake and tsunamis in Indonesia, Samoan islands and typhoon, storms in Philippines. More than 1500 people have died in these disasters across Asia Pacific. Another typhoon Melor is reported to be gaining strength and is moving towards Northern Mariana Islands.
