For all those who have been patiently waiting to get the latest updates on Alfa Romeo’s new car, here is some good news. Finally, it’s official that Alfa Romeo has built a hopped-up version of its Mito city car; the Mito GTA. However, as of now, this remains only a concept. They plan to schedule this high powered car for a Geneva Motor Show debut next month.

Going by the looks of the photos, it pretty much raises the level of anxiousness. The car is extremely lightweight and apparently, the Alfa engineers worked hard to make it even lighter. They implemented certain strategies to do this. The carbon fiber makes up the tailgate spoiler, roof and exterior housings. They trimmed a number of components and, the brakes and chassis were replaced by aluminum units. Besides, the Fiat Powertrain Technologies was tapped for the all new 1.8L turbo engine making around 240-hp featuring direct injection. a dual variable timing and an advanced ECU system are also installed to keep everything running in one piece. If you have seen the Skyhook like adaptive suspension in Ferraris and Maseratis, you would be happy to know that a similar kind is employed on it as well. The GTA sits 20mm lower than a stock Mito.

As it is only in the concept form, the price is not yet known. Looks like you might have to stretch your wait for some more time!
