Well, it seems things aren’t getting any brighter between one of the most preferred web browser developer, the Mozilla Foundation and the Internet search giant, Google Inc. as a recently released add on for the famed browser, Firefox could in fact put a dent to Google’s data collection methods. The all new project called, GoogleSharing has been initiated by a computer security researcher, Moxie Marlinspike, and the add on uses a proxy service, that sends Google false information, in regards to the users’ surfing habits, especially in case of Google’s non-account services like Google Search, Google News etc.

Google is known to collect vast amounts of information in regards to a user’s online habits. This information consists primarily of IP addresses search requests, browser type, among other factors. Even though Google and other major search engine have in fact employed practices that, in turn ease the privacy advocates’ concerns, yet, when it comes to Google, the search giant is known to create its own rules of the game.

With the help of GoogleSharing, more privacy concerned users will in fact be able to hide their online habits from the prying eyes of Google. This add on essentially removes the cookies from search queries made by users and then send these encrypted queries to a proxy server. The search request is then sent to Google via the proxy server, which in turn displays the search results as sent by Google engine.
