Amazon Inc. the manufacturers of one of the most cherished e-book readers, Kindle, has now finally launched the Kindle application
for Apple Mac operating systems. This all new applications allows the users to read the e-books formatted especially to meet Kindle requirements, right on their Mac systems, without having to buy the Kindle e-reader. The ‘Kindle for Mac’ app has been designed and developed to run on OS X 10.5 or later and has been released in more than 100 countries, Amazon has already launched similar applications for a variety of platforms, such as, Apple iPhone, Blackberry and Microsoft Windows.

The Kindle for Mac application would also enable the Mac users with Kindle e-readers to use Amazon’s Whispersync technology, enabling them to synchronize their Kindle books, notes, bookmarks etc. with the Mac. However, as this new application is still in the Beta version, it does not provide comprehensive support for full text search, highlighting, or creating and editing notes. Amazon has stated, that such features will most definitely be a part of the application and will be released as future updates.

The users will also be able to purchase various titles from the Kindle Store and read them on their Mac systems. Furthermore, Amazon has also enabled the users to access previously purchased Kindle books absolutely free of cost.
