Amazon Kindle iOS Application Gets Important Update With iOS 4 Support

Even with the launch of one of the most cherished tablet devices in the world, Apple iPad, one of the foremost e-readers, Kindle, hasn’t been trying to outgun the iPad, instead it released an application, specifically for the iOS, that runs on all Apple mobile devices. Recently, with the upsurge in the iPad sales, Amazon finally decided to lower the prices of the Kindle and announced the introduction of a new Kindle, that would be available in wifi and 3G configurations, but is quite inexpensive.

Now, Amazon has released a crucial update for the Kindle application for the iOS, where in the application has been made compatible with the newly launched Apple iOS 4. The size of the app remains as it was and the application is free to download from Apple iTunes. The updated Kindle App has now been given enhanced app-switching ability when running on Apple iPhone 4G, along with improved search functionalities on the iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

Amazon has also provided the app with Google and Wikipedia search functions for words along with a dictionary comprising of 250,000 words. This dictionary is not part of the download, but is activated, the very time a users highlights a word. Also, for the iPad users, the Kindle app now comes with in-book search, thereby enabling the users to search for their favorite chapters, phrases etc. in the blink of an eye.
