Amcor 2009: From Fridge To Eero Arnio Inspired Retro Furniture

The world of furniture has seen such evolution that the image of a chair is no longer something wooden with four legs. Furniture now is considered as something which is practical as well as having beauty.

The designing brilliance of Eero Aarnio has been featured on this site before. Even for those who find the name familiar yet can’t place it would immediately remember that he is the designer who created the famous Globe Chair. Semi-circular round shaped chairs have since then made it to the market in different names and made famous appearances in movies (remember Independence Day?). Eero Aarnio has inspired many other designs and one of them is the Amcor 2009, a chair and stool designed from an original Israeli Amcor 7 fridge from the 70s. The simplistic white of the fridge makes a fascinating contrast against the blood red of what appears to be velvet upholstery.

Amcor 2009 is made by Studio Groovy, all of whose designs are inspired from the 1960s and 1970s. Pricing details for the Amcor 2009 is not available as yet.
