Americans make history today

This year the United States choose a new president, but the anxiety caused by waiting for verification of the votes will not be limited only to Americans but to the rest of the world as well.

After eight years of the Bush administration, American people saw the strengthening of terrorist networks, the outbreak of two wars simultaneously, the “resurgence” of Russia, the union between India and Brazil for blocking the Doha round and the emergence of a economic crisis that will drag on for another two years, it seems that the Americans realized how important is their decision (not only for themselves but for the rest of the world).

That explains why never before in U.S. history there were so many voters prepared to vote. Bush dissatisfied almost everyone.

The approval of President Bush for the American people had a record low this year, since his first term: only 32% of the Americans support his administration (even worse that President Nixon in the Watergate scandal, which at that time had 39% of popular support).

Therefore, there is no doubt that these elections are historic. There is a need for change in leadership in the United States. In recent years the Americans saw the U.S. world hegemony turn into anti-Americanism spread.

Probably that is why many conservatives are endorser the Democratic challenger. Even they know that something must be done.
