Amnesty International Hong Kong Launches Gay Campaign

Finally Amnesty International Hong Kong has spoken up against gross discrimination and human rights abuse LGBTs face because of their sexuality by launching a ‘Gay’ campaign. Yes, the pun is very much intended in these series of print advertisements.

The message in the print ads say: Gay People Are Not Gay, Make More People Gay Today and Everybody Should be Gay. How true! LGBTs all over the world have become sad victims of their own sexual orientation for centuries due to societal constructs. While the whole world and including all religions are in pursuit of happiness, a section of society is made to suffer. The trauma and confusion that a gay or lesbian suffers is indeed unparalleled and the very fact that they face religious, legal and societal hurdles makes it worse ever case of discrimination and human rights abuse.

The whole campaign is very thoughtful indeed and it sends across a right heartfelt message that everyone has a basic right to happiness. The pictures of human figures holding hands to create messages emphasize the fact that we need a more cohesive and inclusive society and sexual orientation should become a non-issue.
