One of the brains behind Facebook, the most successful social networking service in the world, Chris Hughes, who is also the co-founder of the Facebook entity has announced his plane to create an all new start up organization called, Jumo. This start up will be non-profit organization that will focus on online platform for organizations and individuals who envision a better tomorrow and strive to make the world a better place. Mr. Hughes is known to have been the backbone of the social networking campaign of U.S President, Barack Obama, who he was running for the Office.
As per Chris Hughes, he has dreamt Jumo as being an entity, with which he could make a considerable impact in the field of global development and technology, wherein his new start up will touch almost every aspect of our existence, from health care and education to agriculture etc. On his blog, Mr. Hughes stated that, Jumo will soon be opening an office in Soho, where he would be looking for a developer, a design director and an outreach director.
Social networking has fast evolved into one of the mainstream outlets for non profit organizations, as there are several pages on Facebook itself that have been created by charity organizations. The former President of Facebook, Sean Parker is currently running an application on Facebook, called Causes, that has the sole purpose to educate, recruit and collect donations for numerous humanitarian projects run by individuals and organizations.
According to Chris Hughes,
“To do this well, I’m firmly of the mind that we have to foster relationships between everyday people and issues and organizations that are personally relevant to them. It’s now possible to provide each person with information and opportunities for meaningful action tailored specifically to who they are. If Jumo can make sure that happens and offer opportunities for meaningful engagement alongside it, I think we can speed the pace of global change.”
