Global Coalition for Peace’s anti Iraq war campaign too was a winner in Cannes Lion 2009. The public interest campaigns do deserve this kind of recognition and publicity. Most of social campaigns are done on non-profit basis by organizations that believe in the cause and need support for their good work.

The three ads of Global Coalition for Peace are named Missiles, Machine gun and Tank. All three are the machinery of war used heavily not only in War against Terror at Iraq and Afghanistan but in conflicts elsewhere too. So instead of mentioning only Iraq war the message could have been inclusive of all wars and conflicts which are raging everywhere. All armed conflicts are bad and they create reasons for newer wars and conflicts. The message of the campaign is nice too: What Goes around Comes Around – Stop the Iraq War.

Let us hope such award winning anti-war campaigns will make an impact someday and moves will be made to find diplomatic solutions to the issues which cause strife. Wars only kill the innocent men, women and children who are caught in the crossfire.
