Apple and Google’s Race in Mobile Advertising

Apple Inc will soon be launching the iPhone OS 4.0. There is more in store to all the Apple fans as they are to launch iAd mobile advertising platform as well. Apple has acquired Quattro Wireless this January and Google had acquired AdMob. However, Google is a step behind its competitor, as its acquisition is still pending and requires regulatory approval.

Given that Google has more experience and talent in the online advertising, since it is from this that the company earns maximum revenue, Apple cannot be underestimated. The advantage Apple has over Google is its wider user base because of iPhone and iPad and even iPhone App Store. Apple can even utilize the Quattro Wireless technology to support its mobile platform. It would be easier for Apple although they are up against a seasoned player in the web advertising field.

On the other hand. Android has been increasingly gaining popularity. Google’ years of expertise in advertising and its long lasting relationship with the advertisers definitely gives it an extra edge over Apple. In the long run, both the companies need to expand its business to other platforms like Blackberry etc. The one ahead of this race will definitely win.
