Apple iBookstore Gets A Big E-Book Distribution Deal With Perseus Books Group For The Apple iPad

The Apple iPad which is now becoming a dream machine for many of the die hard Apple fans and even others is already attracting a lot interest from the major players in the field of digital publication. Recently, Conde Nast had announced its plans to make available many of most popular titles especially for the iPad, thereby accentuating the importance of the iPad in the e-reading realm. Now, one of the largest independent publishers in the United States, Perseus Books Group has apparently entered into a distribution deal with Apple Inc. in regards to the Apple iPad, where in the publishers has expressed its desire to sell the digitized versions of its publications, via Apple iBookstore.

On the other hand, Amazon.com, the creator of the immensely successful Kindle e-reader and perhaps the biggest online retailer of printed and e-books in America has stepped up its campaign to ensure that, those publishers who haven’t yet joined hands with Apple Inc. do not do so in the near future. Apple Inc. has already struck various deals with five of the six biggest publishers in America and with the Perseus deal now in place, Amazon, which hold its grip on 90% of the e-book industry is now trying its best to keep as much lead as possible from Apple.

One of the primary reasons for the publishers to choose Apple over Amazon is perhaps the former’s pay structure, wherein Apple allows the publishers to set their own prices for the e-books they publish, restraining to certain limitations, of course. However, Amazon on the other hand, even after lifting the DRM (Digital Rights Management) restriction has yet kept the publishers found at a fixed price of $9.99 at which every book in the Amazon store will be sold.
