The immensely famous Apple iPhone application, Bump, that allows the users to share contact information such as phone numbers, names and e-mail addresses between two phones, is now all set to reach an astonishing milestone of 10 million downloads, with company announcing that, Bump could easily be found on more than 10 percent of iPhones. Bump Technologies, creator of the Bump application launched the app last year, when the company received a financial boost from Sequoia Capital.
After the launch and the subsequent success of the Bump application, many other companies, such as the likes of LinkedIn decided to design their own contact sharing applications, that work similarly to Bump. Realigning that, its own creation could very well be dominated by the other companies, Bump Technologies, did the only thing a start up can do and released an application programming interface (API) and turned application into an open platform.
As far as the future of Bump Technologies is concerned, the company is looking forward to create more applications and a business model for itself. These new applications that are expected to be released in a few months are said to be targeted towards physical data sharing, that would include, virtual coins in games, information on business cards etc. As per reports, Bump Technologies is also seriously considering the aspects of gaming, especially with the the upcoming launch of the highly anticipated, Apple iPad tablet device.
