
As per various reports circling the Internet, it seems that the Apple iTunes Apps Store has witnessed a surge in successful hacking attempts, and various iTunes customer accounts have been hacked, where in the money from these accounts has been used to purchase apps from the store. One such application genre that has witnessed a sudden increase in sales is e-books, where in, books submitted by developer, Thuat Nguyen have been some of the most sold books in the iTunes Apps Store, amounting to 42 out of 50 books.
Numerous users have claimed that, their iTunes have been hacked and hundreds of dollars have been embezzled to the unauthorized purchase of these books. So far, there has been no official statement from Apple Inc. However, there have been other reports stating that, this hacking of iTunes accounts isn’t only limited to the books apps, but has now spread to various other genres and has taken the shape of an international phenomenon. The year 2010 seems to be going against Apple Inc, as the company finds itself in a puddle of legal mess. After the highly successful launch of the all new Apple iPhone 4G, Apple found itself with a class action lawsuit from dissatisfied consumers, due to the iPhone 4G signal issue.
According to one iTunes Apps Store user,
“Yesterday my credit union contacted me saying there was suspicious activity on my debit card. Sure enough over 10 transactions in the $40-$50 area all on iTunes equaling to $558.”
