According to the US General in Haiti, there may be 200,000 people who has died in the disastrous earthquake in Haiti last Tuesday. Approximately 70,000 people are already buried so far. Rescuers are doing full time job to pull out more people out of the heaps of debris.
Haitians are trying to provide for themselves. Violence and crimes are already on the rise. Survivors are also trying to leave the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has also reassured them and has asked them to be more patient with the rehabilitation process.
During the weekend, many were rescued as well. A seven year old girl survived amongst the debris of the supermarket. Another sixteen year old girl was pulled out from a three storey hotel after being trapped for five days. Efforts are put by the US troops. An additional 2000 US marines also arrived to help in this disaster. The world has come together to restore peace in Haiti. Almost 200 million Euros would be utilized for the medium and long term efforts to restore the lives of the people. The UN had to bear a huge loss as well with 37 confirmed dead and more than 300 missing. The disaster has been the one of the greatest humanitarian crisis.
