Come the month of April and numerous users in United States will be able to get their hands on one of the most sought after gadget of this year, the Apple iPad. As April 3rd, 2010 comes closer, the excitement for the iPad is at its all time high and with the various publication deals and the iBookstore in place, the users are just waiting to start exploring the web with their iPads.
However, if there is one company that is not intimidated by all this hype surrounding the iPad, its Asus. One of the leading computer hardware manufacturer, Asus Chairman, Jonney Shih has revealed that, the company is nearly done with its own rivals for the Apple iPad in the form of two new tablet PCs that are expected to be introduced in the coming months. The Computex trade show that is stated for the month of June this year in Taipei, has long served as the company’s platform for the launch of new products, and its widely believed that, Asus could very well introduce the new tablet device at this event.
Asus, under the able leadership of Mr. Shih has long been revered for its ground breaking netbooks that have made numerous users switch from bulky laptops to these light weight portable machines. However, Mr. Shih has stated that, the market for tablet device such as the iPad is also extremely ripe and thus could prove highly beneficial for the new Asus tablet PCs.
According to Jonney Shih,
“Netbooks are the best combination of personal computing and cloud computing. But between netbooks and smartphones and e-readers, we think there will be a space for something like a tablet or slate PC.”
