Atlanta Could Be The New Sin City

The lawmakers of Georgia reject the idea of opening casinos in the state almost every year. The right time has come to finally broaden the horizon and go for it.

The economic crisis had touched almost all lives in the United States. Casinos and gambling seem to the answer to end all woes in this state. The revenues generated from it could be the savior to ease the financial burden that outweighs the evils of the gambling.

The state has always been against casinos so as to keep gambling, organized crimes and prostitution at bay. Democrat state lawmaker, Roger Bruce suggested that he plans to introduce legislation to initiate the process of introducing casinos in the state. Of course, this is a rigorous and a pains taking task. Then there are the Republicans that need to be convinced as well.

The casinos could be the source of employment. It has the potential to create as many as 11, 000 jobs. Also an additional $ 135 million annually to fill the tax coffers. The current effort of the state to generate revenue through the sales tax and property is futile. It has only led to the $ 2 billion deficit.

The opportunity cost is running high. The reluctant lawmakers better take the necessary steps to stabilize the dwindling finances soon. That leaves us with the option to wait till we try our luck in the jackpot.
