One of the most anticipated gadgets that is making headlines across the world, Apple iPad is just days from its official launch and has app developers and digital publishers alike are scrambling to ensure that, they get a share of the iPad success pie. However, if there is one company that is sweating the most to get the best of iPad, is the wireless carrier AT&T.
The recent failures of AT&T in keeping its 3G network up to speed for the Apple iPhone 3GS devices has considerably reduced the customer confidence in the company’s performance. A few months back, the wireless carrier even went to the lengths of requesting its customer base in San Francisco and New York to reduce their 3G usage, as the carrier was facing a lot of technical issues due to the over burdening of its 3G network. However, in regards to the launch of the iPad, AT&T seems to be pretty over confident in terms that, it has assured the users of its readiness for the iPad.
According to AT&T,
“We are absolutely ready. The iPad is already figured into our planning for this year. It’s worth noting that people are likely to use the iPad a lot on Wi-Fi.”
Even though the Apple iPad on wifi could be breeze, yet the more concerning issue is AT&T’s capability of handling the 3G network demands, when iPad 3G hits the markets. As per the wireless carrier’s marketing strategy, AT&T will be offering the iPad consumers in the U.S with a $15 or $30 per month subscription for the 3G network, that surprisingly will not be binded by any contract. Furthermore, the company will also be offering free Wi-Fi access at all of AT&T’s hot spots in the U.S. The $15 plan will provide the consumers with a 250MB per month data download limit and the $30 plan will provide the users with unlimited data service.
