AT&T Still Suffering From Network Fallback Along With Disgruntled Consumers

AT&T, the exclusive carrier to the world’s most preferred smart phone, Apple iPhone is now facing a new problem of commitment issues, as the company has apparently failed to introduce iPhone tethering service along with the much anticipated 3G MicroCell product that would have greatly helped the carrier’s much frowned upon network coverage especially in San Francisco and New York City.

AT&T had recently asked its subscribers in these two cities to lessen their data usage of the 3G network as the company had been facing hard times in regards to providing the consumers with satisfactory data coverage, especially when the iPhone users are increasing exponentially in the U.S. The 3G tethering, that allows the users to pair their iPhone with their desktops and laptops to access the internet is still nowhere to be seen on AT&T, when Apple had already introduced the feature with its iPhone 3.0 software update. Even though other handsets on AT&T network are able to access this service, iPhone users on the other had are still waiting for the company to activate the service for their devices. One of the reasons for the delay in the tethering service could be the fact that, AT&T is very much struggling from the extensive data demand from consumers.

If such trouble keep plaguing the iPhone consumers on AT&T, Apple might just sever its ties with the company as soon as the current contract expires in summer and could reach out to other CDMA wireless carriers, such as Verizon, Sprint etc. These companies are already well known for their network and data coverage, thus putting a severe dent in AT&T’s revenues and reputation, that had recently come into question after an advertising campaign launched by Verizon, showing the weaknesses of AT&T’s network coverage.
