According to the recent research done by the Harvard School of Public Health, drinking from the plastic bottles raised a chemical named bisphenol A ( BPA) in our body. This controversial chemical is declared to be a toxic element is many countries. Commonly found in the plastic food and drink containers, and baby bottles, it is found it raises the female sex hormone oestrogen. It was found those who drank from such polycarbonate bottles, they has 69 percent more bisphenol A in their body.
Studies also reveal that excessive BPA in our body also raises our chances of diseases like diabetes, heart diseases and birth defects. Moreover, it is even more harmful for the children whose parent’s heat their feeding bottles made of plastic. There is a higher risk of these toxic chemical to leak in higher quantities when the bottles are heated. Another study done by the European Food Safety Authority reveals that our human adult body has the capability to convert these harmful chemicals into something less harmful. However, the infants are still at a higher risk from hormonal gland dysfunction.

This is a great example of public misinformation on plastics. The Harvard study was on leaching of BPA from polycarbonate. But polycarbonate is NOT used to make bottles for drinking water or soft drinks. that is polyethylene terephthalate (PET) which is not produced using BPA and does not leach BPA.
The only use of polycarbonate that would be represented by the Harvard study is shatterproof glassware used in many institutional dining rooms.
