No matter what good things batteries are made out of, or how much longer they last, or how less often they can be recharged, batteries can never be as green as mechanical energy. Doubt it? Try this… a remote control that doesn’t need a battery and works on the quiver of your hand.

Clad in a transparent case, this concept remote control has an electromagnetic induction coil powered by a magnet. All we need to do is just hold the power button and shake the device up and down or sideways depending on which the channel or volume can be changed respectively. The sleek design looks handy too, standing apart from the conventional remote controls and would also give some exercise to your hands.

Though the remote has the potential to veto use of batteries in the future, as of now, it has its share of drawbacks because, controlling the volume and switching channels is not the only job a remote control does. However, for those who don’t like to be called couch potatoes, here’s something you can boast about!
