One of the foremost book stores in the United States, Barnes & Noble has announced the launch of its widely anticipated electronic reader named, Nook. The all new e-book reader will be available across the United States at $259 a piece. The price of the Nook is quite on the same plain as of Amazon’s e-book reader, Kindle.
Nook is a sleek electronic reader, sporting touch screen controls and comes in the shades of white and gray. The all new e-book reader will enable the users to share their e-book collection and furthermore the users will also be able to download the e-books over the air.
This isn’t the first time that Barnes & Nobles are taking a shot at the e-book genre. The book store giant is already running an online e-book store, where the users can buy the digital copies of their favorite books and can access them on multiple devices such as, iPhone, Blackberry, desktops and laptops. However, the electronic reader by Barnes & Nobles, is going to face a stiff competition as, Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s e-book reader have already established themselves in the market with a wide consumer circle.
As per a deal with Google, Barnes & Noble will ensure that, upto 500,000 digital editions of the books scanned and indexed by Google from various libraries will be available to the consumers absolutely free of cost. In addition to the Google Books, the online e-book store will have collection of more than 1 million e-books, newspapers and magazines. The Google feature is exclusively available on the Nook, that gives Barnes & Noble an edge over Amazon.
