A malicious code that spreads through text messages on mobile phones is opening doors for the creation of mobile botnets, or networks of mobile zombies.Botnets are a major threat on the Internet, as they have the potential to send unsolicited junk email, steal data and encourage denial of service attacks which flood networks.

A recent review of enterprise security solutions Trend Micro shows a malware dubbed “Sexy Space”, which target mobile phones running the Symbian operating system S60. The “Sexy Space” is a variation of a malicious code (malware) facing the cell called “Sexy View”, discovered six months ago, and is the first to spread by mobile text messages. He first appeared in China.

The contamination occurs when the user clicks on a link offering pornographic content, and requires from the user to install a program. The phones affected by this malware send messages to all contacts on your list.

The authors of the online coup came to get the Symbian approve the application that turns mobile phones into zombies. The manufacturer of the operating system vetoes some applications for security, but this process was rigged in some way, says the head of research at F-Secure, Mikko Hypponen.
