Beograd or Belgrade as it is Internationally known, is a huge and remarkable city that sits on the rivers of Danube and Sava. It is the capital of Serbia and is a place where the discerning traveller can visit ancient churches, palaces, war monuments, and admire gardens and public places. It has always been at the crossroads of the West and the East and the unique influence of the Turkish culture can be seen even today.

The city has charming coffee shops, boutiques and is a well established tourist destination. It can get awfully hot in summer and winters can be bone chilling. Plan your trip accordingly and visit the city for a longer time, as it needs to be felt more than seen. You could visit old Serbian “Latin quarter” which is an area filled with dilapidated but charming buildings.

This is the area where many Serbian poets and artists once lived or at least travelled to be. Belgrade is well connected by Turkish Airlines and most Major European Airlines operate here. When you go to Belgrade, try to contact local Serbs who are usually very hospitable towards strangers. You could visit the Official Website of Belgrade for more information.
