Facebook is a popular destination for people to connect with friends, make news friends and keep abreast of everything that is happening in most everyone’s lives. The social networking site has increased in popularity over the years and the fact that a number of celebrities admit to having a Facebook account has only increased the intensity of its fame.

Facebook also makes it possible for people to declare a large number of complete strangers as their friends and stay happy in the mistaken idea that they are extremely popular. Bill Gates is either above such selfish desires or is truly way too popular for his own good. Bill was in India recently where he was awarded for his humanitarian services. Apart from talking about his fight against AIDS, Bill also revealed that he had quit Facebook because some 10,000 people wanted to be his friend.

Bill cautioned the crowd of listeners at New Delhi to be wary of the ways in which the developments in technology could make us ‘waste our time’ and admitted that he had found it hard to make out who he truly new from amongst the requests he got. What can we say, can you blame anyone for wanting to be friends with the richest man in the world?
