Bill Gates’ charitable organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is what occupies most of the billionaire’s time, interest, and focus these days. The organization is very much involved in healthcare, especially the access to it by the poorest nations on earth. Since stepping down from the day to day operations of Microsoft, he has involved himself with such monumental efforts as the eradication of polio.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is known for its success in the field of vaccination, making vaccines available to those who need them most but cannot otherwise have access to them. “Vaccination is the area where we have saved millions of lives, and there is more to be done,” Gates says.

One of the Foundation’s biggest efforts is in AIDS vaccine research. Unfortunately, no vaccine has yet been discovered by science that would mitigate the spread of the AIDS virus. Should an AIDS vaccine be discovered, Gates vows to make it accessible and available to the greater many of those infected.

Bill Gates entices his fellow billionaires to give away huge chunks of their wealth just as he has been doing. He says billionaires will even find joy in giving away their riches to charitable causes. “I think all billionaires should give away the vast majority of their fortunes. I think they would enjoy it, their kids would be better off, and the world would be better off,” Gates said.
