‘Bing’ Becomes A Boon For Microsoft’s Online Ambitions

Microsoft has been trying to get a firm grip in the search engine business for a very long time and truth be told, it has seen more failures and setbacks than success. The search engine vertical is one of the most lucrative and highly demanding sector of the business world and in the United States alone, it is worth $12 billion. Seeing the exponential growth in the sector and Yahoo’s futile attempts to revive itself, Microsoft last year placed an astounding $47.5 billion bid in an effort to take over one of the major players in the search engine market. Even that ended up in a mockery of the internet giant.

However, in the month of May this year, Microsoft retired its Live Search and introduced an all new search engine, Bing, that was launched amid intense skepticism and a room full of technology high hitters. But, Bing has proven itself for its worth, an all new service that would help Microsoft establish its name in the search engine area.

Numerous influential bloggers and tech journals have given appreciating reviews for the Bing, comments that aren’t restricted to its functionality but also cover its over all appearance and features that it provides. Many users have also approved of Bing over Google, especially when it comes to its design and user interface.

According to Danny Sullivan (Editor, SearchEngineLand),

“They have achieved a degree of respect they haven’t had. They’ve rolled out a product that is good. When people spend time on it, they do like it.”

In a statement, Yusuf Mehdi (Senior V.P Microsoft Online Audience Business Group),

“We have had a great start and some good buzz. We’re settling in for a big long run.”
