BMW Gets Ready To Take On The Green Road

Green car will no longer be an oxymoron if BMW’s word is anything to go by. At the moment, reserach is on to make the same a reality. But the wait is a little long as the Bavarian car will not be seen in the market until 2012.

Based on the M1 Homage concept, the green car will be wedge-shaped holding a 3.0-liter inline six cylinder engine that will in turn be injected to move along with its twin turbochargers. Apparently, a version of the same engine is already powering other models from BMW ending in 35i with 300-horsepower being put out. The new version will definitely go a step or two ahead.

Sources reveal that Efficient Dynamics will be adding stop/start, regenerative braking and most probably even a road-going version of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System which by the way is being worked on for Formula 1 use next year.

Fuel economy, emissions and carbon output of the concept car is expected to be similar to their 5 Series midsize sedan.
