If you were feeling bad about growing trees and cutting them down to build houses, why not build a house when they are still alive? Oliver Storz, Ferdinand Ludwig, and Hannes Schwertfeger have designed structures which are built around growing trees. The whole project is called Botany Building and the idea involves grafting trees together, and when the branches grow, the roots are cut off and they will merge into one organism.

Around the tree a building is built, while the whole plan stays clean and green without damaging any of the eco system. Conventional supports are built around the tree branches so that they can be attached and manipulated the way the architect needs it. The branches would then support the structure and as time grows, the building grows along with the tree too.

The idea may sound controversial but it seems to be quite interesting and if the whole procedure is environmentally friendly, there is no reason why it should not be done this way at all! A small version of tie “growing architecture” looks amazingly convincing!
