Borderline Personality Disorder or BPD as it is lovingly called is one of the most stubborn personality disorders ever. The treatment approaches to most BPD people have proven useless and ineffective. The solution to BPD has always been a client cantered approach and of course, existential therapy. The BPD always finds it difficult to regulate emotions and experiences emotions at an intense level.

People around him or her usually fail to comprehend these emotional battles within the person. Existential therapy approaches to the BPD client almost always centres around helping them understand their loneliness and that the reality of being alone and its positive effects. It also deals with support and self help strategies that allow BPD people to face existential angst.

Ginny Coffin and Cindy Knight of Marblehead from Families together presented an educational workshop on BPD at Beverly yesterday. The growing attention towards the BPD is a positive outcome and perhaps this will demystify a number of attributes attached to personality disorders.
