youtube Brand Channels on YouTube Fetch $200,000 for Google

YouTube may be the second most visited search engine and video site in the world, but Google still has not managed to find a way to make money out of it. All that might change thanks to the video ads that might come into picture. Moreover, it makes sense for the companies to make their presence felt on YouTube because it would not only drive traffic to their respective sites but it would add credibility to them.

It is more like Twitter’s verified accounts which do make a lot of sense in retrospect. “H&R Block,” Billy Elliot: The Musical, and Wal-Mart are some of the companies who have already made YouTube their home. A dedicated channel for any brand costs $200,000 and upwards.

Google is certainly going to rake in money just like it has always done so before. Now the question is, is it ok to depend on one single company for all our needs? Right from Search Engines, Documents, Email, Chat, Web Visibility, Advertisements and even a Brand Channel? Sounds a little scary to me, and I have always been sceptical about Google dominance of Internet.
