Skilled immigrants may now have a hard time to pursue their dream jobs in Britain. The British home minister declared that point based system would be in effect from this April. This is one of the measures that have been taken to protect the escalating unemployment in Britain.
Skilled jobs need to be first advertised to a British worker through Jobcentre Plus before an immigrant can have access to that job. From this April onwards, new immigration rule will be put to effect. One can apply for a job only if one has a master’s degree with a minimum salary of 20000 pounds a year as opposed to the previous law of minimum undergraduate degree and 17000 pounds salary.
This is the crackdown aimed at ‘Tier 1′ or highly skilled immigrants like scientists, entrepreneurs, etc. For ‘Tier 2′ immigrants need to advertise their posts first in Britain. ‘Tier 3′ immigrants who are not from European Union cannot come and work in low skilled jobs.
Once these system and regulations kicks in April, access to British jobs will be an uphill task for many. However, by controlling skilled immigration into Britain, it will help the government to cope with the economic storm better.
