Bruce Willis

The once famous actor Bruce Willis has been sued by three production companies claiming damages of $4 million for having allegedly breached a contract to direct a film. Foresight Unlimited company, Signature Entertainment Group, and Three Stories Productions filed a lawsuit against the actor in the Superior Court of Los Angeles. That’s a string of production companies pooling together to pull off a relatively low-budget film. It looks like the project was not about to be touched by grand Hollywood. It’s obviously not a matter of name but clout that is needed in the wheeling and dealing playground of Hollywood.

The companies allege that the defendant had signed an agreement to direct a film entitled “Three Stories about Joan” starring Owen Wilson and Joan Camilla Belle. According to reports, “Willis suddenly and without notice has terminated his services as director citing personal reasons and has left the project.”

The legal representative of Willis, lawyer Marty Singer, described the claim as absurd and said that the film project fell apart because the producers do not have money to pay anybody. The actor had signed a contract for $196,404 to direct the film that was supposed to have a total budget of $20 million. Singer told the press that Willis will sue the producers to get paid the amount they had agreed.

Willis should have realized from the start that the project would not have possibly taken off. Was he desperate to take up a low-budgeted film project based on the merits of the material or was he simply desperate to make a name as a director in Hollywood? Showbusiness is, first and foremost, a business.
