“The Bicycle Factory” is the latest innovative campaign by the world’s favourite chocolate company. It is a program cum contest open only to Canadian nationals. The program aims to build 5000 bicycles which will be sent to Africa.

And how does it plan to build them? Well, buyers of Cadbury products will help in building each part of the bicycle. One buys a chocolate, gets a UPC code and enters that code at the website and adds a part of the bicycle, thus help build bicycles. For each bicycle one needs 100 UPC codes. So the aim is to sell products that would generate 500,000 UPC codes to meet the program target. Quite an innovative way to make people buy more chocolates and make them feel good by participating in this bicycle building!

The short film about bicycle being the best and essential mode of transport in Africa is truly moving. Yes, this campaign by Hive/Toronto is a winner. One would really want Cadbury to reach the target and send those 5000 bicycles to the people in Africa and ease their daily grind and commute. Moreover one lucky participant may even win the contest and a life time trip to Africa. Cadbury sales will surely surge in next couple of months and the company will also showcase its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
