Bloggers may need to be wary as Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has collaborated with iCopyright, the American copyright bounty hunters used by the Associated Press. Now they plan to offer licenses in order to quote CBC articles on the web. While this may be a warning to people who just use lines from websites in order to quote in an article, it foresees a condition in which bloggers would have to be extra careful about what they are writing.

iCopyright, the American copyright bounty hunters used by the Associated Press will give a reward of $1,000,000 to anyone who reports a bloggers who won’t pay Canada’s public broadcaster for the quotes they sued. The idea must be to read something, and effectively comment on it instead of quoting.

Bloggers must realize that times have changed and that silly as it may sound, one must make sure not to quote anything from anywhere, for you never know from where you would get a notice. It would be better to read something and then effectively comment on it, which would not only bring out original content but also makes reading more entertaining.
