Creative has unveiled the Zii, which is a System on a Chip architecture. It can be used for high-demand media applications and you could also use the Zii to feature discrete processing elements. It is being compared to supercomputers and allows easy scalability and limitless growths.
The hardware used in this platform is called ZMS-05 Media-Rich System-On-Chip. MSI, PowerLinux and other companies have already come forward to support the platform and they are planning to use the chip in video conferencing. It is also apparently an expanded version of DMS-02 chip.
This certainly is exciting especially if the chip is scalable, consumes low power, and is adaptable. However, it is not clear when and how this chip will be used and if future gadgets will use the chip. This was announced at the CES 2009, Las Vegas, Nevada too.
