With the popularity and sales of electronic or e-books soaring exponentially, the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 (CES), this year will surely be filled with a host of new state of the art e-book readers from various vendors. Recently, we mentioned the name of Paradigm Shift Sourcing and Manufacturing, that will launch two e-book readers at the event and now, another contender which is coalition of Skiff and Sprint have also announced, a new e-book reader slated for CES 2010.

The all new Skiff Reader has been designed and developed specifically to meet the requirement of that of newspaper and magazine content and is also the most streamlined device amongst other e-book readers. The Skiff Reader will have an astounding display of 1200 x 1600 pixels (UXGA) with a 11.5 inch display screen. The user interface in entirely touch enabled and will be compatible for newspapers, magazines, e-books and various other document formats, along with the content purchased from the Skiff Store.

To make the Skiff Reader, a truly remarkable machine in a world of fierce competition, Skiff has reportedly worked hard, in collaboration with LG electronics to employ LG’s patented foil-display technology, that replaces the traditional glass display and substitutes it with more reliable and durable a thin, flexible sheet of stainless-steel foil that acts as the Skiff Reader’s display. Furthermore, Skiff has entered into a contract with one of the major wireless network carriers in the United Stated, Sprint to provide the Skiff consumers with 3G connectivity for the reader. There is also the possibility that, Skiff Reader might find itself on the shelves of more than 1,000 Sprint retail stores.

We have witnessed a strong demand for e-readers in recent years and now Sprint is showing its commitment to Skiff by making this new device available on the 3G network and for sale in Sprint retail stores.”
