It’s not an uncommon sight to come across those intimidating gadgets of different kinds from big and small companies at the CES every year. This year has been no exception in this regard. Emblaze Mobile was seen flaunting their new potential smartphone player at their booth. This little known Israeli-based mobile company seems to have suffered over the decade not really making a name of their own in the market.
However, they have raised a good deal of money and also bought a bunch of companies. Edelweiss and Monolith are their only two smartphones, which have been presented as prototypes. Apparently, Edelweiss just crumbled without seeing any interest from the buyers whereas Monolith holds some promise. Interestingly the smartphone was seen exhibited at this year’s CES under the name “Else Emblaze”, or “Else Intuition”.
Built by sharp, this smartphone has a Linux-based touchscreen OS, which is already licensed by Access. It offers a few respectable features such as; a 3.47″ touchscreen with a 480×854 resolution, OMAP 3430 processor, a 16 GB internal memory, a 5 Megapixel camera and GPS as well. About the OS, which is brought by Access and is Linux-based was apparently turned down by Palm in order to develop Webos. What a pity!
