The world of wireless networking has grown exponentially in the last few years and with the advent of new technologies, the bridge between two devices is nearly closed. From wireless internet to file transfer, the world of “wifi” has seen significant change and growth and if all goes well at the upcoming CES 2010, this very technology could even revolutionize the way we watch television.
A U.K based firm, ProVision is all set to bring in the concept of wireless high definition television at the CES that might just lead to a complete disappearance of set top boxes from our homes. The company is planning to unveil a new device, called AXAR 1500, that will be capable of streaming video from just about ever high definition video sources such as Blu-ray player, PVR or HD set top box and will transmit the video stream wirelessly to other similar televisions equipped with AXAR.
With the help of the AXAR 1500, a high definition video stream can be easily shared with almost every AXAR-enabled device, be it laptop, a cell phone, PC etc. and the picture quality will be a stunning 1080 pixels. The AXAR 1500 will have range of an incredible 900 feet and and the users will have to install an AXAR receiver for each of their high definition televisions. ProVision is currently in talks with some of the biggest names in HDTV business, but has so far refused to divulge any details.
According to Ian Walsh (VP, Development, ProVision),
“We can’t tell you names yet, but we are talking with lots of big players in the TV and network router markets. The big difference in the tech comes from our expertise in antenna design. The highly robust wireless system means the device will transmit video to any area within virtually any home. With distribution radius of over 900ft, AXAR1500 is capable of streaming live HD content across an area of more than 2.5 million feet square – three times the floor space of Buckingham Palace”.
