qualcomm CES 2010: Google Android Powered Snapadragon Smartbook Plans Unveiled

At the Consumer Electronics Show 2010, a joint venture between one of the biggest computer hardware manufacturers, Hewlett Packard and a leading wireless telecommunications R&D firm, Qualcomm Inc. has unveiled the plans for the world’s first smartbook that is powered by a Snapdragon processor and runs on Google Android mobile operating system.

The all new smartbook will be driven by a Snapdragon chipset providing a clock speed of 1Ghz and the machine will greatly benefit from the Scorpion central processing unit. The idea behind this one of a kind concept smartbook is to create a device that has a longer battery life, all the while retaining the crucial aspects of a smartbook, such as wifi connectivity, 3G and a state of the art user interface. HP will be showcasing a demonstration of the technology at the Showstopper event and Pepcom Digital Experience at CES 2010.

According to Luis Pineda (Senior VP, Product Management, Qualcomm),

“Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform delivers significant competitive advantages to our customers, enabling them to feature exceptional performance, ubiquitous connectivity and powerful multimedia in devices ranging from mobile handsets to smartbooks. Working together with partners such as HP, we will be able to bring a more valuable connected experience to consumers around the world.”
