We all know how annoying it is to see those huge electricity and energy bills at the end of every month, and when we realize how “ungreen” we are being it is seven more annoying.

Despite our best efforts to stay environmentally friendly and energy efficient, it is practically impossible because most of the gadgets that we use STILL require some amount of energy and there is no possible and practical way to understand and manage our energy consumption at home though many devices already claim to help us in doing so.

To make things easy, Direct Energy, Whirlpool Corporation; Best Buy; Lennox International and OpenPeak will unveil a prototype of Home Energy Manager at the CES 2010. It is expected to help laymen understand the dynamics of saving energy and money, and also manage energy usage.

It would send alerts, plans and other methods to let you know your consumption and how you could improve it. It comes with touch screen and other technologies in order to help you manage your household energy consumption in an easier manner. Let us wait and watch what the HEM might actually do!
